Plein Air Painting with Laura Frykman
Ever wondered what chalk pastels are like? Come create a landscape painting right from nature, in just 3 hours! Prior to class, we have arranged for your instructor, award-winning plein air artist Laura Frykman, to provide a 1.5 hour demo that will be open to the public from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. on July 22. It will cover all the essentials you need to know. You will then be ready to develop your own painting during your 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. class on either July 22 or July 29 as you work step by step together with others. Laura has experience teaching students at all skill levels. Bring your questions! She'll keep it light & fun, and you’ll go home with your 9 x 12” painting on acid-free sandpaper, a set of pastels, plus a handout of all you learned. Plan to pay a supply fee of $15 to the instructor which covers 15 half-stick pastels + one sheet of sandpaper. (If you already have pastels, bring your own and pay just $5 for the paper.)Easels and drawing boards provided for use while sitting. (If you have an easel, please bring it.) Also, we recommend bringing a folding chair, a camera, and any supplies you already have. Wear a hat with a visor and bring water to drink. Note: Afton State Park has an entrance fee of $7 per vehicle (changed as of July 1, 2017).
