While making this scarf, you will learn an array of Brioche knitting skills including Brioche knit stitch, Brioche purl stitch, common Brioche increases/decreases, i-cord cast-on/bind-off, and applied i-cord edge. Knitters should already know the basic knit and purl stitches as well as slipped stitches, yarnovers, and common increases/decreases like k2tog and kfb. Brioche knitting builds on these skills. Yarn (~$20+) – At least 220 yds of EACH of two contrasting colors of worsted weight yarn
Be sure to look at how the two colors contrast in order to get the best effect from the pattern. Also, this pattern is best in solid/tonal colors. Highly variegated or self-striping yarns take away from the design of the pattern, although gradient yarns would work nicely. Some yarn comes ready-to-use; others have to be wound into a useable ball. Please be sure your yarn is ready to use at the beginning of class.
