    Preschool Advanced

    This course is for 3 to 5 year old's that have progressed from our Preschool Beginner course; New students must be comfortable in the water, will easily get their face wet, will comfortably float on their back with their ears in the water, continuously kicks both on the front and the back when request by the instructor, will eagerly goes to an instructor, and finally follows safety directions.     Intro to Beginner

    This course is for children ages 4-7 that have progressed from our Preschool Advanced A course or are new to our program and the child is very comfortable in the water, submerges their whole head, will float on their back with ears in the water and on front with their face in the water while an instructor supports with hands only. Can swim a short distance with some assistance. Children advanced for their age must receive supervisory approval to register for upper levels. Speaker Bio Mary Carlsen Mary is a retired St. Olaf College professor where she taught courses in social policy, social work practice, ethics, family studies and social welfare history. She received her B.A. in social work from St. Olaf College, and her MSW from the University of Washington, concentrating in health care and aging. She practiced social work in hospital, hospice, nursing home, and home care settings. She is a member of the Northfield Hospital Bioethics Committee and served on the NASW-MN Ethics Committee. In 2016 she founded a local group focused on advance care planning and MAID education and advocacy.

    Intermediate 1

    This course is for ages 7-14 that have progressed from Beginner 3 or who have perfected swimming the front crawl with rotary breathing for 15 yards, elementary backstroke with a glide for 15 yards, and scissors kick for 10 yards. Students are also able to front float, back float and tread water, for 30 seconds each. Children advanced for their age must have received a progression card indicating that they are ready for Intermediate Registration ends online 1 week in advance of class start.     Beginner 3

    This class is for ages 7-12 who have progressed from our Beginner 2 course, or who are swimming independently on front with arms out of water and using breath control for 5 body lengths. Child can also float on back for 15 seconds, swim on back for 5 body lengths, and is comfortable anywhere in the pool. Children advanced for their age must have received a progress card indicating they should move onto the next level. Please call 651-425-6600 to arrange registration adjustment.     East Ridge Youth Wrestling Program

    East Ridge YOUTH WRESTLING PROGRAM: COST: $100 (Beginner) or $250 (Intermediate/Advanced) Please also make sure to mark child's date of birth and grade. WHERE: East Ridge High School Wrestling Room Beginner: This session is designed for first or second year wrestlers who are between ages 5-8 years old. Returning wrestlers or new wrestlers who are older please look to the other session. We will focus on the fundamentals of wrestling including stance and positions, teach a few moves from each position, and learn the basics of live wrestling during practice. Practices are organized to be both fun and challenging for the kids! Parent participation is encouraged. Please wear t-shirt, shorts or sweatpants, socks and wrestling shoes. A water bottle is strongly recommended. Each participant will receive a t-shirt. Tuesdays (5:45-6:40pm) - Nov. 11 through March 3 (Course # C210 - $100) For ages 5-8 Intermediate and Advanced: This session is designed for returning wrestlers (any age) and/or new wrestlers ages 7-14. Note, for older kids we recommend the middle school program, but have this option if needed. Wrestlers will learn intermediate and advanced techniques from a former college wrestler and also have opportunities to compete in weekend tournaments. Wrestlers competing in tournaments will need to purchase their USA Wrestling membership card through mnusawrestling.org. For practice please wear t-shirt, shorts or sweatpants, socks and wrestling shoes. A water bottle is strongly recommended. Each participant will receive a t-shirt.     Private Guitar Lessons with George McCorkell - Spring

    Personalized, private guitar lessons are offered to students in beginning to advanced guitar (acoustic or electric) and beginning banjo. A guitar or banjo is required for lessons.     Swim Training 4th-6th grade THIS IS NOT SWIM LESSONS

    Offered year round on a monthly basis Swim Training offers ages 9-12 the opportunity to learn about competitive swimming. Swimmers will breakdown the four competitive strokes while gaining confidence in the water. Must be able to swim one length unassisted. Each meeting will have a designated workout according to your ability. Your coach will cover a different topic each meeting day to help you improve in starts, turns or stroke development.     Preschool Beginner

    This is a child's first class without their parent. We use fun games and activities to teach children comfort and trust with their teacher. They work on floats, basic kicking, arm movements, breath control and following directions. Whether you are a student that wants to keep in shape between competitive seasons, gain strength to get on a swim team or an adult looking for that old workout you use to get in high school, this is the course for you. Each meeting will have a designated workout according to your ability. Your coach will cover a different topic each meeting day to help you improve in starts, turns or stroke development. Participants are divided into levels of ability. Registration ends one week in advance. Thereafter a late fee of $5.00 is added to the registration fee.     Yoga is increasingly being used in a variety of settings as an integrative approach to wellness. In yoga, the use of breath and mindful movements helps our nervous system release stress, strengthens our body, quiets the mind, and has a diverse range of health benefits. Join us to strengthen your body, rebalance your nervous system, and experience deep relaxation and the power of breath. Class includes a mind/body theme, an easy warm up and a more challenging physical asana flow practice. We end class with a final relaxation that may include sound healing and optional use of affirmations, essential oils and meditation strategies to assimilate learning. We will repeat the same foundational sequence for the entire series for those who want less intensity. It will build with optional advancements as the weeks progress for returning students or those seeking more of a challenge physically. This summer class will be tailored to meet the needs of both new and returning students.

    This class is for children graduating from the Beginner 1 class.     Park Youth Wrestling Program - Winter Session II

    PARK YOUTH WRESTLING PROGRAM: COST: $80 or $100 Please also make sure to mark child's date of birth and grade. WHERE: Park Senior High Wrestling Room - In the Activity Center. PreK - 1st Grade Wrestling: This session will focus on the fundamental positions, movements, and a select few moves from each position in wrestling. This is for first-to-second year wrestlers in grades PreK-1st grade. Returning wrestlers OR new wrestlers in second grade or higher, please refer to other session. Parents required at practice for this session. Tuesdays/Wednesdays - Jan. 6 through March 11 from 6:00-6:50pm (Course # C202 - $80) For grades PreK - 1st grade. Grades 2-5 Wrestling: This session will focus on intermediate-to-advanced techniques, conditioning, and live wrestling needed for youth wrestling competition.
