Growing Readers - Summer Camp is an individualized tutoring program intended to help children learn how to read through systematic, multisensory reading interventions and practices based in research and Orton Gillingham methodologies. This tailored reading tutoring is not only intended to help students grow in their reading skills, but also to help struggling readers increase their confidence, curiosity, and love for reading! Not only will this opportunity help students gain more confidence in their reading skills, but it will also help to lessen the “summer slide” or loss of achievement gains due to the summer break. Tutors will help directly identify specific growth areas through informal assessments to focus on during tutoring sessions. Each camp will include 15 tutoring classes that will be 55 minutes in length. Tutors reccomend 3 lessons per week. These will be scheduled individually between the family and the tutor once the student is registered..
All tutors part of the Growing Readers - Summer Camp are licensed special education teachers and/or licensed school psychologists with advanced training in evidenced-based reading interventions, progress monitoring, and methods of boosting student engagement. Our tutors are passionate about early reading interventions to support all students in their academic success. We are so excited to help your reader grow this summer!
