Learn how to build up a soup by layers for memorable, deep flavors. You can make your class soup in a stovetop or electric pressure cooker or a traditional pot, so bring whatever cooking vessel you choose. (Your soup will total less than 2 quarts.) You will choose to make one of the following three soups in class that demonstrate the soup-by-layers technique including Sausage-White Bean-Vegetable, Curried Squash, and Cream of Chicken-Wild Rice-Vegetable. Extensive handout provided. Please bring your cooking pot and a covered container for taking home leftovers. $18 food costs are included in your class fee.
Your instructor for the evening will be Jan Zita Grover, a food-savvy San Francisco-born teacher/writer/historian/instructor/baker/chef who loves to teach others how to cook joyfully and improvisationally. She has cooked, catered, run a professional kitchen, and taught classes for 30 years.
