Come learn Hmong with friends your age! This is a course for those who want to learn how to read, write, and speak Hmong but never did. It will be fun and engaging together. You will have a chance to practice what you learn in class. We will tap into your English skills to help you read Hmong faster and quicker. We will focus on interesting themes and some aspects of Hmong culture that will get you excited about speaking Hmong. You do not need to speak Hmong to take this course, but you will need a positive attitude about putting forth your best effort. This class is for 6th through 12th-grade students.
My name is Xib Fwb Mos and I have been teaching Hmong in the Hmong Dual Language Program at Txuj Ci HMong Language and Culture Lower Campus. I have been teaching the Hmong language in the Saint Paul Public Schools District for well over 17 years. In addition to teaching, some of my work has been in curriculum writing, assessment writing, Hmong phonics scope and sequence development, and decodable book writing. Currently, I work in small groups with first and second-graders who are struggling in Hmong literacy. I have experience teaching in all grade levels from K-6th grade and have my ELL licensure for K-12. I believe it is important to learn one’s home language and culture. My dream is to preserve our beautiful Hmong language for generations to come.
