  • 3D Engineering: Architectural & Structural Design

    Bring your imagination to life. Become a master bricklayer, and use our special architectural Lego kits to build your creations. Be an architect as you learn the principles of construction. The main goal of the course is to introduce the concept of 3 Dimension and its role in designing. Working in teams, students will construct buildings, structures, towers, castles and more. Students learn principles of construction and use math skills as they experiment with scale and size, staggering vs. stacking and more. In a hands-on class using LEGO® materials, we’ll build houses with removable roofs, castles with turrets, and towers of strength! It just may be impossible to exhaust the creative potential of LEGO bricks. With an active imagination as your guide, there are endless possibilities.

    About Boating Safety (ABS) 2019 is a unique study program covering the fundamentals of boating. The course is designed for skippers and crew of all types of watercraft. If you are born after 1991 and need your Watercraft Operators Permit, this course meets the MN and WI requirements. The course material is covered in seven chapters, which touch on: Know your Boat, Before You Get Underway, Navigating the Waterways, Essential Boating Web Sites & Mobile Apps, Marine Electronic Feature Set-up and Use, Safely Operating Your Boat or PWC, Boat Handling & Close Quarter Maneuvering, Boat Safety Tips for Water Sports Tubing, The Legal Requirements of Boating and Boat Emergencies…What to Do.

    This class is for the adults that need to become comfortable in the water.  Nervous or apprehensive not to worry.  We take this level from the very beginning.  What you'll do in this class is become comfortable putting your head under water, floating on your front and back with assistance, doing front and back glides with assistance, learning the flutter kick, fining, the front crawl holding your breath and the back crawl with assistance.  To move to Beginner 2 you must be totally comfortable submerging, floating independently, and swimming two body lengths the front crawl and back stroke.  Registration is due 1 week in advance of class start. Thereafter a late fee of $5.00 is added to the registration fee.  Please call 425-6600 for class availability after online registration ends.   • Adult - Beginner 2 - Woodbury High - Summer

    This class is for the adult that can do the following skills :  You can jump into shallow water with or without assistance,  let bubbles out through your mouth while underwater, submerge your head under water multiple times. Independently do a front float with face in the water, back float for 5 seconds, front glide with face in water, back glide, flutter kick on back, flutter kick on front, fining arm action with flutter kick on back for 8 seconds.  Front crawl with face in water using breath control for 8 seconds.  Do not sign up for this class if you are a Beginner 1 student and that class is full.  In this class you will work on your breathing for the front crawl, back stroke, and elementary back stroke arms. You will also jump or step into deeper water, breath holding for 5-10 seconds, swim underwater, retrieve a submerged object, roll from your front to your back and back to front, front and back floats for longer periods of time.  Front and back glides for longer distances.  If less than 4 students enroll this class will be reduced in time to 25 minutes.If the Beginner 1 class is full and you are a Beginner 1 student, do not sign up for this class, instead register for the next available session of Beginner 1.  Registration is due 1 week in advance of class start. Thereafter a late fee of $5.00 is added to the registration fee.
  • Adult - Beginner 3 - Woodbury High - Summer

    This class is for the adult that can do the following skills and is ready to move onto more advanced skills.  To enroll in this class you are comfortable swimming front crawl, back crawl, and swimming underwater,  you can easily hold your breath and exhale underwater.  You can jump into water over your head and return to the wall.  You can swim the width of the pool, float with your face in the water for 5 seconds, back float for 15 seconds, and do a modified Elementary Backstroke with a flutter kick,  In this class you build endurance and swim a longer distance, continue to learn to breath from the side, tread water, swimming in water over your head. You will work on the Elementary Backstroke, the whip kick, the scissors kick.  Class with less than 4 students will reduce to a 25 minute class.  Registration is due 1 week in advance of start date. Thereafter a late fee of $5.00 is added to the registration fee.  
  • Adult - Intermediate 1 & 2 - Woodbury High - Summer

    This course Combines Intermediate 1 & 2 for adults that have progressed from Beginner 3 course.  New students to our program can swim the front crawl with rotary breathing 25 yards, elementary backstroke for 25 yards, back stroke for 25 yards and scissors kick for 10 yards. Children also are able to do a knee dive off the side of the pool and tread water for 30 seconds.  A class with 3 or less students will reduced in time to 25 minutes.  Registration is due 1 week in advance of class start. Whether it’s public speaking or collaborating with peers, YHA models essential leadership techniques that will immediately help students in and out of the classroom. Agents tackle daily missions using Scratch, a fun programming tool that empowers students to quickly start developing their own games and interactive stories. The challenge is to come up with a project that will not only entertain their friends, but also teach something about important topics that are impacting our local and global community. For YHA alums and students with advanced Scratch skills, AT Plus projects will also be offered for higher complexity and game customization. YOUNG HACKS ACADEMY Does your child have what it takes to lead in the 21st century? Young Hacks Academy is a summer program that uses technology to develop real-world leadership skills.   • All Time Class Favorites! with Kids In the Kitchen

    This course will feature all of our students' favorite foods from previous classes. New and Returning Students, alike, love the variety and popularity in this course. We will be baking and cooking Authentic French Crepes and a delicious cream filling, Scottish Cream Scones, Calzones, Handmade Fettuccine pasta and Red Sauce, and the World's Greatest French Silk Pie!Kids in the Kitchen courses are designed specifically for kids. Each course has been fine tuned, over the past eight years, to meet the specific learning styles and taste profiles of kids. Class sizes are kept to a strict limit of no more than fourteen students per class, with students working in pairs of two, in each kitchen area. Limiting class size and keeping team sizes to two students, maximizes hands-on learning and ensures that each student actively participates in the food they create. Each day there are no less than four instructors to assist in student learning. Instructors are sensitive to student's needs, including the needs of specialized learners. Parents are encouraged to contact the instructor prior to the start of class if additional accommodations can be made. each day is brimming with hands on activity. Students begin their day by watching the food expert of the day demonstrating the day's project. Students then move on to preparing the foods themselves, in their kitchen area. There is time to sample the foods they make and to discuss what they learned each day, as well as what techniques were difficult to master. Students have plenty of food left, after sampling, to bring home to share with their families. All students, at the completion of each course, feel a great sense of pride and accomplishment!

    Lions, tiger, and bears... oh my! This animal themed dance camp is a great opportunity for your young dancers to explore creative movement while making animal themed crafts, participating in animal themed games and activities, and learning an animal themed dance to display at the end of the week together!

    Become introduced to the sport of archery in the surroundings of scenic Afton State Park. Targets will be set up and instructions given so you can try your hand with a bow and arrow. Class will be held at Afton State Park. Note: Afton State Park has an entrance fee per vehicle.
  • Art Sampler by Art Splash

    Students will creat all kinds of fun art projects and crafts using a variety of materials. Kids will learn how to draw, paint with acrylics, watercolor, and make slime. Supplies included.
  • Babysitting

    Taught by a certified instructor, this course offers leadership, safety, basic care, and the business of babysitting, first aid for breathing and bleeding emergencies. This course is a must for novice and experienced babysitters. Students must attend all 6 hours of instruction. Class is open to both boys and girls. Cost includes handbook. Minimum age is 11. Students may bring a bagged snack/meal.
  • Backyard Smoking

    Smoking meat, cheese, and vegetables is a wonderful way to celebrate the arrival of summer. We'll use Weber Smokey Mountain water smokers and a Weber charcoal grill equipped with a Slow 'n Sear to smoke a variety of foods. Though my kamados are too heavy to bring to class, you can also learn how to improve smoking on your egg, too!  Learn the techniques of backyard smoking, make an all-purpose rub, smoke a variety of foods, and then sit down to eat the bounty you've produced.  Bring a closed container for taking home any leftovers. Extensive handout provided. No discounts.
