  • Self-Paced Online Advantage ACT Prep Course

    www.AdvantagePrep.net For the past 26 years, Advantage Educational Programs has benefited thousands of students in Minnesota by preparing them for the college entrance exams.Beginning soon, the Advantage will once again present its ACT Preparatory Course in more than forty high schools in Minneapolis/St. Paul and the surrounding area. This course is an excellent alternative for any student unable to attend in-school classes or a student preferring to prepare for the ACT exam on their own and at their desired pace. Once enrolled, students are sent an access code for their class via email. The fee for this course is $60. Students who have previously paid for the In-School ACT Prep Course can participate in the online course at NO CHARGE.   • SoWashCo Middle School Robotics Teams

    It’s way more than building robots. FIRST Tech Challenge teams are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. FIRST Tech Challenge teams design and build a robot using a reusable kit of parts and compete within a common set of game rules to play an exciting field game and complete the specific season challenge. The robot game changes every season and is always a blast! Student and adult team members are encouraged to bring any skills they already have, like programming, electronics, metalworking, graphic design, web creation, public speaking, videography, and many more. FIRST Tech Challenge welcomes every student, with or without special skills. Guided by adult coaches and mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles, while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and working as a team.     FIRST LEGO League introduces science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to students through fun, exciting hands-on learning. Explore real-world scientific challenges and introduce coding and robot building principles using LEGO® educational materials. FIRST LEGO League gives students the opportunity to work and create together to solve a common problem. The really cool thing about FIRST LEGO League is...all skill levels are welcomed and needed, technical or non-technical. Adult coaches guide students as they gain skills and confidence in a supportive, inclusive environment. Each season concludes with regional championship events.     In this thrilling LIVE virtual summer camp, students will use their imagination and learn Spanish vocabulary related to their favorite themes~ superheroes, princesses, magic, dinosaurs, mermaids, unicorns, and more! Each class students will explore age-appropriate adventures– All in Spanish! Basic conversation and Spanish vocabulary such as colors and counting will be incorporated to build on their skills each week. Class will include interactive activities learning Spanish vocabulary and practical conversation elements. Join us on a magical adventure!     PHS Wolfpack Boy’s/Girls’ Tennis Camp - with Coach Tony Townsend The first two sessions (5-8 & 9-10 year olds) will focus on the Quickstart program. The third session (11-17 year olds) will be a more advanced session and will focus on all the fundamentals of tennis along with techniques and match scoring. This session is designed for players that are new to the sport of tennis. This is a great way to try it out and see if you are interested in joining the high school tennis team.     In this hands-on cooking class, you'll learn the time-honored art of creating pasta, eggrolls, and samosas from scratch. Mimi will teach you how to throw together the perfect pasta dough as well as how to roll and slice it into noodles. You'll also learn how to make a delicious garlic tomato-sauce & Alfredo sauce to smother your freshly made noodles — a rich and satisfying homemade dish. The eggrolls and samosas are classic appetizers that explode with complex, unique flavors. You’ll make an eclectic assortment of dishes, from sumptuous samosas to delightful egg rolls. Mimi will also teach you how to make zesty and addictive dipping sauces with ginger and mint. The final day you will make the popular Chicken Pad Thai dish whose name means “Thai stir-fry. Your instructor Mimi will help you in recreating this classic known for its diverse flavor profile of sweet, salty, sour and spicy. Perfect for entertaining, wow your friends and family. Finish the class by learning to make Baklava, a traditional pastry dessert that is known for its sweet, rich flavor and flaky texture.     Offered for kids ages 6-12, Spark Equestrian’s day camps at Serenity Farm teach kids the basics of horse care, grooming, and riding. Kids should provide their own lunch and wear long pants with close-toed shoes. It is recommended to dress in multiple layers as we will be both inside and outside. Since 1988, on average, students who finish the course increase their scores significantly on the ACT (36 pt. total). The Advantage will provide an introduction to the ACT format with strategies for answering questions, as well as instruction for the specific subject areas tested. Focal points of the program include diagnostic testing, vocabulary development, intensive mathematical review, reading comprehension improvement, science reasoning, concentration improvement, overcoming test anxiety, essay writing, and time management.
